Conditions that allow taking out money from EPF account

If you put money in the EPF and want to take it out, you need to fulfill certain conditions set by the government:

  • Education: People with EPF accounts can take out half of the money they’ve saved to help pay for their kids’ schooling.
  • Getting married? If you have an EPF account, you can take out 50% of the money you’ve put in for your own wedding or the wedding of your son, daughter, brother, or sister.
  • If employees have a medical emergency for themselves or their family, they can take out their EPF savings and get six months’ worth of salary and DA.
  • People with disabilities who have EPF accounts can take out both their EPF savings and six months’ basic salary for medical treatment.
  • Paying Back Loans: If you work for the government, you can ask to take out money from your Employee Provident Fund (EPF) savings to pay off loans from banks. You can do this after working for 10 years.
  • Buying a Home or Land: People working for the government or private companies, who have money deducted from their salary for things like EPF and DA, can use that money to buy a house or land.
